Our ministry

Growing in faith.
Learning for life.

Pathfinders brings young people together to explore faith, learn practical skills, and discover how they can serve others. Sponsored by the Seventh-day Adventist Church, the worldwide ministry welcomes young people from different faith backgrounds, including those who are new to church. Its purpose is to help participants develop their abilities while growing in friendship, responsibility, and a personal relationship with Jesus.

The wider Pathfinder program combines outdoor experiences, hands-on learning, community service, and age-appropriate leadership development. Activities can include camping skills, nature study, creative projects, and learning that leads to Pathfinder honors. Working through a challenge together gives young people opportunities to practice cooperation, follow through on responsibilities, and encourage one another. The experience is about applying what they learn as well as discovering something new.

The North American Division’s Investiture Achievement curriculum is designed for grades 5 through 10, with six progressive levels: Friend, Companion, Explorer, Ranger, Voyager, and Guide. Each level builds on earlier learning through personal growth, spiritual discovery, service, friendship, health and fitness, nature study, and outdoor living. Families should contact Allentown’s church office to confirm local participation details, current activities, and the appropriate next step for their child.

01

Faith and character

Spiritual discovery is part of the Pathfinder learning journey. Young people are encouraged to connect what they learn about God with everyday choices, relationships, and responsibilities. Faith becomes something to explore and practice as they grow.

02

Skills and discovery

Pathfinder honors introduce participants to a wide range of interests, including nature, outdoor living, arts, and practical skills. Learning through activities gives young people room to ask questions, try unfamiliar tasks, and recognize abilities they can continue to develop.

03

Service and leadership

Community outreach gives young people a chance to contribute to the lives of others. The wider program includes opportunities such as collecting food, caring for public spaces, and encouraging older adults. Leadership development helps participants learn to take responsibility and work with a team.

A next step for families

If your child is interested in Pathfinders, ask the church about the current club program, eligibility, meeting arrangements, and registration. You can also ask which activities are planned, what participation involves, and whether any supplies or uniform items are needed. Getting these details first helps your family make an informed decision and prepare for the experience.

Adults who would like to support youth ministry can ask about ways to help and the church’s requirements for working with young people. Sharing an interest in teaching, outdoor skills, organization, or service is a useful way to begin the conversation.

Take the
next step.

Tell us whether you are asking for a child, seeking registration information, or interested in supporting the ministry. Include the child’s age or grade when relevant so the church can help you ask the right questions about participation. Contact the office for current meeting information and department contacts.
